DaBaby Wears Lace Front Wig For New Music Video, Asks For Baby Hair

While filming a new music video on Wednesday (Sept. 27), DaBaby channeled an Andre 3000-esqué look from 2003’s “Hey Ya!” visual.

The “Shake Sumn” rapper sported a green shirt, gold cuban link chain, red top hat, and surprisingly, a lace front wig. Hilariously, the 31-year-old couldn’t take the heat from hot tools – but that didn’t stop him from requesting baby hairs.

“I don’t know how y’all do this,” he said in the clip before jokingly asking, “Can I get some baby hair?” After being uneasy around the curling iron, he declared, “This bad b**ch sh*t ain’t easy.”

According to DaBaby, he has a new music video coming this Friday (Sept. 29) sporting the look, alongside a “new movie” directed by himself. “I went THROUGH IT yesterday!” he captioned his post. “Ion know how the bad b**ches do it! y’all the truth!”

Fans couldn’t help but to leave comments about his look.

“James DaBaby Brown,” one person wrote, as another commented, “Man’s a natural you should be getting movie scripts.”

Others had negative feedback about him wearing a wig, as a few claimed he wasn’t being a “real man.”

“Are there any real men left anymore in the black community???” someone wrote. “Myyyy goodness why y’all like to cosplay black women so much ??? Let the people influence this mess and keep destroying the black male figure.”

In other news, the Cleveland rhymer is up for three BET Hip-Hop Awards this year. He is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video (“Shake Sumn”), Best Live Performer and Video Director of The Year.

Baby recently directed Lil Duval’s music video for “Squeeze,” which takes inspiration from the classic 1989 film Lean on Me.

In the visual, Duval reimagines himself as Principal Joe Clark, who was originally played by Morgan Freeman. The video finds him commanding an auditorium to “stop the violence” during a spirited pep rally.
